UPPER MANHATTAN — The city will get cleaner and greener this weekend as thousands of volunteers pluck, prune and paint in an effort to beautify green spaces at the citywide It’s My Park Day this weekend.

This year marks the Partnership for Parks' 16th anniversary of hosting beautification projects at local city parks, where neighborhood volunteers can get down and dirty planting flowers, clearing brush and rubbish and tidying up.

Community groups will also get to enjoy a variety of free events, including kayaking, dance performances and art projects on Saturday or Sunday.

Volunteers are asked to call or email contacts listed on each event posting. Limited supplies will be available for volunteers.

Events throughout the city can be found on the Parks Department website.
