MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A millionairess charged with murdering her young autistic son has added famous legal consultant Alan Dershowitz to her top-tier defense team.

Dershowitz, along with defense attorney and public personality Ron Kuby and D.C. white-collar criminal defense lawyer Michele Roberts, appeared Tuesday on behalf of Gigi Jordan, 50, who was arrested last year on charges she forced a pill overdose on her son, 8-year-old Jude Michael Mirra, on Feb. 5, 2010.

Dershowitz is serving as a "constitutional consultant," Kuby told Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon at a status-update court appearance for Jordan on Tuesday.

Dershowitz did not elaborate on what his role as a constitutional advisor on the criminal case would be. It was unclear what role he would have if Jordan's case goes trial.

Dershowitz, who teaches at Harvard, was an attorney on OJ Simpson's murder trial. He has also reportedly represented Mike Tyson and televangelist Jim Bakker.

It remains to be seen whether Jordan, who has been through several lawyers already and faces up to life in prison if convicted, will argue a psychiatric defense as her legal team picks up where her last attorney left off.

One of her previous attorneys, Gerald Shargel, said Jordan had "obviously" suffered from a psychiatric episode. He argued she was severely mentally ill and had tried to take her own life when she allegedly forced the pills on her son.

Jordan is due back in court again on the charges in June. She faces up to life in prison if convicted.
