MANHATTAN — Let the Canadian Club flow: "Mad Men" is coming back for a fifth season, but not until 2012.
Network AMC announced Tuesday that it has ordered another season of the hit show that's set in the 1960s and follows the boozy and philandering world of a Madison Avenue advertising firm, "Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce."
"While we are getting a later start than in years past due to ongoing, key non-cast negotiations, 'Mad Men' will be back for a fifth season in early 2012," AMC said in a statement.
Those negotiations include reaching a new contract with the show's creator, Matt Weiner, the New York Times reported. His previous contract expired after the fourth season.
The Times, citing other reports, said key sticking points in the talks included shortening the show's time to squeeze in more advertising and eliminating two cast members.
Fans had been hoping that "Mad Men" would return in time for summer.
