GRAMERCY — A Peruvian star chef will take over Danny Meyer's former restaurant space, Tabla, replacing it with La Mar Cebicheria, Eater reports.

Gaston Acurio, owner of 28 restaurants in 12 countries, will open another branch of his Cebicheria chain, a Peruvian seafood specialty, at 11 Madison Avenue, taking over the lease from Danny Meyer's now closed Indian restaurant, Tabla, according to Eater.

The blog said Acurio first toyed with the idea of opening a place on 27th Street and Madison Avenue and also on 21st Street between Park Avenue and Broadway last June, but settled on Tabla's old space instead.

The restaurant's opening is planned for  August 2011.
