HELL'S KITCHEN — A small fire closed traffic on West 55th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues Monday morning, the fire department said.
The FDNY responded to reports of smoke on the third floor of an apartment building at 347 W. 55th St. at 9:17 a.m., officials said.
No one appeared to be home in the apartment and there were no injuries reported as of 9:45 when the fire was placed under control, according to the FDNY.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
