MANHATTAN — The man police suspect of stabbing his ex-wife to death in a Midtown beauty salon has been arrested in Maryland.

Michael Kenny, 42, was caught Friday night, more than 24 hours after his ex-wife, Denise Kenny, was found hacked to death in the salon. Officials traced him through his cell phone, the New York Daily News reported.

Kenny is being held in Jennifer Detention Center of Anne Arundel County pending extradition, officials told DNAinfo.

Police had been searching for Kenny since his ex-wife was found Thursday in the upstair's bathroom of D'Galina's Salon Spa on West 35th Street, where she worked as a hair stylist.

She had been stabbed multiple times and was found slumped over a toilet.

Kenny, who had been accused of sending his ex-wife threatening text messages, was previously arrested for violating an order of protection against Denise, records show.

Kenny also has a history of violent crime.

While robbing the Late Nite Deli on Myrtle Avenue in Queens in 1999, Kenny pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the clerk and demanded cigarettes, a cigar box and cash from the register, according to a criminal complaint.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty. He has at least one other robbery conviction, and received a five years probationary sentence in 1990.
