MANHATTAN — A 21-year-old man who jumped to his death off a Roosevelt Island balcony Sunday had been smoking the legal hallucinogenic drug Salvia moments before his leap, the New York Daily News reported.

Ryan Santanna, a film student at the Art Institute of New York City, had been smoking Salvia on the balcony before jumping off the 15-story balcony, the News reported.

Santanna appeared to be heavily influenced by the drug and was laying on his stomach pretending to swim like a fish before jumping, his ex-girlfiend, Benazir Balania told the News.

"He just ran and hopped over the fence," Balani said to the paper.

"He had no idea who he was, what he was doing," she said.

Police were investigating Santanna's death as a suicide after initial autopsy reports returned with inconclusive results, the News reported.
