MANHATTAN — Mayor Michael Bloomberg may be striving to up his social media savvy, but a Twitter prank Friday revealed he still has a thing or two to learn, the New York Post reported.
During his weekly WOR radio program, the Mayor offered to answer a few listener questions submitted via tweets, according to the Post.
One submitted question, "F—king magnets? How do they work?" provoked a serious-minded response from Bloomberg, who once studied electrical-engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
But scientific know-how probably didn’t impress the Twitter user, who took his query directly from a popular video from hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse.
The social media slip-up comes just a month after the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment announced the hire of Columbia Business School graduate Rachel Sterne as its first ever chief digital officer.
For a salary of $115,000, Sterne, 27, is charged with using the know-how she gained acquiring over 14,000 Twitter followers to improve the city’s use of social and digital media tools.
