Thieves Target Spas in String of Robberies

MANHATTAN — Police are hunting a pair of thieves who robbed three beauty parlors last week.

The men first struck at the Green Phoenix Spa, on West 46th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, on Feb. 20 at around 5 p.m.

Police said one of the suspects threatened a 56-year-old worker with a knife before taking cash and ordering her to hide in the bathroom.

A day later, on Feb. 21, the suspects struck again at Bodywork Foot and Back Spa at 85 Washington Place shortly after 9 p.m.

Again, the told a 48-year-old woman to hide in the bathroom while they stole cash.

The last reported robbery, on Feb. 23, happened at Shu Xin Services on Canal Street and Baxter where again police said the suspects ordered a 42-year-old woman into the bathroom before taking money from the spa.

Police were searching for two men in connection to a string of three spa and massage parlor robberies last week.

Police were looking for two hispanic men, between five foot nine inches and six feet tall in their early 20s.
