CITY HALL — Libya's defiant leader, Moammar Gadhafi, will have to cross Manhattan off his list of potential places of refuge if he chooses to flee his country.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Tuesday that the strongman, who once famously tried to get permission to pitch a giant Bedouin tent in Central Park, would be barred once again if he tried.
"We have a rule against tents which would probably apply," Bloomberg told reporters at an unrelated press conference in the Financial District.
In September 2009, when Gadhafi traveled to New York for the United Nations General Assembly, his back-up plan to pitch his tent at a Westchester estate owned by Donald Trump was foiled at the last minute following threats of legal action.
But Gadhafi may not be packing up just yet.
The leader has vowed to remain in Libya to his death, the Daily News reported.
"I will not leave. I'll die here a martyr," he reportedly said.
