MANHATTAN — Rapper Ja Rule's sentencing for a gun possession conviction has been delayed until March 9.

Ja Rule pled guilty to gun possession charges in December and faces up to two years in prison.

The charges were brought against Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, after a gun was found in his car during a 2007 traffic stop on West End Avenue. Atkins' chauffeur was also charged with driving with a suspended license at the time.

Prosecutors said they needed more time to make changes to a pre-sentencing report.

Fellow rapper Lil' Wayne was also caught with an illegal weapon after the same Beacon Theater show in June 2007. Wayne served an eight-month stretch at Riker's Island after being convicted of gun possession last year.
