MANHATTAN — A 60-foot, unmanned party boat went for a joyride around the Hudson River Tuesday morning, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed.
The 500-passenger vessel, called "Queen of Hearts," had been stationed at the Lincoln Harbor Marina in New Jersey, when it was mysteriously freed from its moorings around 10 a.m., according to the Coast Guard and the boat's operator Affairs Afloat.
The wayward party boat did not come into contact with any other objects, and it was eventually towed back to New Jersey by a private company called Seawolf Marine Towing, according to Petty Officer Thomas McKenzie of the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard was investigating the matter Tuesday afternoon, and the party boat company declined immediate comment on how Queen of Hearts broke free.
Affairs Afloat did confirm that Queen of Hearts would be back in commission in time for their Valentine's Day dance party, scheduled to embark next Saturday from Pier 40.
