MANHATTAN — Ask a New Yorker what they want in the new year, and you'll hear a common plea — the city needs jobs, and fast.
"I think that 2010 was sort of a sad year for New York; you could see the hardship of people," said Linda Lemiesz, 54, who is dean of students at Cooper Union. "I'm hoping that the economy will continue to recover, and that there will be more jobs for people in high school and right out of college."
Although some did cite more trivial wishes — Giullemette Faure, 43, would like to see Manhattanites get over the cupcake fad — a swift end to the economic crisis was what most city residents DNAinfo talked to Friday wanted in 2010.

"This has been a tough year, the recession," said Mark Vlahos, 39, who works in trade settlement. "But we're New Yorkers, we're resilient. We'll get through it."
