MANHATTAN — The Giants blew a 21-point lead in stunning fashion to hand the Philadelphia Eagles a 38-31 victory and put them in top spot of the NFC East.

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick led the team to an amazing 28 points in the final eight minutes of the game, robbing the Giants of a seemingly insurmountable lead.

The rally included three second half touchdowns thrown by Michael Vick, who also ran for 130 yards and a touchdown for the day.

The game ended in heart breaking fashion as Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson fielded a Giants put with 12 seconds remaining and ran 65 yards for the winning touchdown on the final play of the game.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin was so angry he hurled his notes in a fury and ran out onto the field to yell at rookie punter Matt Dodge, who was apparently supposed to kick the ball away from Jackson out of bounds.

“I’ve never been around anything like this in my life,” Coughlin told reporters after the game. “It’s about as empty as you get to feel in this business, right there.”

The loss overshadowed a good day by Giants quarterback Eli Manning. He completed 23 of 39 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns, and his only interception came on a tipped pass.

Wider receiver Mario Manningham caught two touchdown passes and 113 receiving yards on eight catches to lead New York.

Giants fans struggle to believe their team threw away a 21 point lead.
