MEATPACKING DISTRICT — A fire raged in the heart of the Meatpacking District Friday morning, across the street from the trendy Hotel Gansevoort.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries as crews worked to squelch the flames, which broke out at a construction site on the corner of West 13th Street and Ninth Avenue, according to the FDNY.

Fire officials said they received word of the blaze, on the first and second floors of the construction site, shortly after 5 a.m. and it wasn't brought under control for over an hour.

A construction manager at the scene said one worker was on duty when the fire began inside a tool shanty.

Construction workers waited for instruction outside the construction site Friday morning following the fire.

Water rained onto the first floor of the construction site after firefighters had extinguished the blaze.

"It won't affect progress at all," a construction manager, who would not provide his name, said. "Nothing stops construction."
