MANHATTAN — The first snowflakes of the winter season fell on Manhattan commuters Monday morning.
The scattered snow showers are expected to continue throughout the day according to meteorologists, as are the breezy conditions that keep the flakes swirling through the air.
"I like the snow, but it'll be a pain for commuting later if it gets any worse, said Josh Avila, 20. "I definitely didn't like the freezing cold when I got outside today. But it's getting me in the Christmas spirit!"
With winds in the 20 to 25 mile per hour range, and gusts as strong as 44 miles per hour, will make Monday's high of just 38 degrees feel much colder — more like the low 20s, according to AccuWeather.
Although the snow isn't expected to stick around, the chilly and blustery weather is in the forecast through at least mid-week, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures won't climb out of the 30s until Friday, when the city has a chance of a cold drizzly day with rain showers and highs in the low 40s, according to forecasters.
