MANHATTAN — Kevin Boss scored a late fourth quarter touchdown and the Giants defense stepped up to snuff out Jacksonville's final drive as New York rallied to beat the Jaguars 24-20 on Sunday.

Eli Manning found Boss on a short pass and the Giants tight end did the rest, breaking a tackle and running 32 yards for the go ahead touchdown with 3:15 left in the game.

"I was kind of fumbling and stumbling to keep my feet and get in the end zone," said Boss, who shook off Courtney Green's tackle attempt with a firm stiff arm.

The Giants defense nailed down the win by sacking Jaguars quarterback David Garrard on three straight plays and forcing a turnover in the final minutes of the game.

"That was something that we needed," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said after the game. "We needed to rise up and have a finish like that."

Manning threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns despite playing without injured wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith.

Brandon Jacobs made the most of his starting opportunity by running for 87 yards on 14 carries. Ahmad Bradshaw, who's fumbled a team-high five times, ran for 49 yards on nine carries in a reduced role. Bradshaw leads the team with 916 rushing yards, but his ball control problems have not endeared him to coach Coughlin.

Sunday's win ended New York's (7-4)  two-game losing streak and moved them back into a tie with the Philadelphia Eagles (7-4) for first place in the NFC East.
