SOHO — A food vendor was dragged from his truck and beaten and robbed in the middle of the night last week, police said.

The 43-year-old victim, a New Jersey resident, was working at his cart on Varick Street just north of Canal Street about 3:20 a.m. on Nov. 12 when two men approached and ordered food.

One of the men then grabbed the vendor by the arm, dragged him 10 feet away and punched him repeatedly in the face, police said. Meanwhile, the other man opened the vendor’s cash drawer and made off with an unspecified amount.

The victim suffered bruises and a cut above his left eye. He chased the assailants around the block but they got away, police said.

Police are seeking the two men, both described as white, 25-years-old, 6-feet tall and 170 pounds. The man who allegedly beat the vendor is described as wearing a beige sweatshirt and a black cap, while the alleged thief is described as wearing a red sweatshirt.
