Midtown Streets Temporarily Closed After Suspicious Package Report

MIDTOWN — Several Midtown streets were temporarily closed early Monday afternoon after a report of a suspicious package.

The black backpack turned out to be harmless, and full of underwear, socks and jeans, among other personal items. 

West 47th Street, between Seventh and Eighth avenues was closed during the investigation. Eighth Avenue was also closed between West 46th and West 48th streets.

The street was reopened by 2:10 p.m.
