MANHATTAN — Police are hunting for a woman they believe scammed hundreds of victims of millions of dollars in an identity theft scheme involving several banks in Manhattan, the NYPD said Thursday.

The woman, Raven Moses, 28, is believed to have stolen bank account information from approximately 500 victims and then used the data to manufacture thousands of counterfeit checks.

The suspect, working with other people, allegedly cashed the fraudulent checks, stealing over $1.4 million from one bank and "substantial sums" from several others, police said.

The scam's victims included private individuals, corporations, religious institutions, hospitals and schools, as well as city and state government agencies, according to the NYPD.
