Manhattan — Jobless New Yorkers should dust off their resumes and be ready for work opportunities to come their way, according to experts.

City businesses are starting to hire again and are gearing up for a holiday season boost, the Daily News reports.

Among the most hopeful employers are restaurants, retailers and hotels expecting an increase in business starting at Thanksgiving.

"I think some of the rise in job openings is because employers have gained more confidence and the economy is stabilising," Jackie Mallon, executive director of business development and strategy for NYC Business Solutions, told the News.

"Maybe they needed to hire people before, but were being conservative. It's also because of the season. This is the last quarter, where you always see a lot of uptick in retail, restaurants and hotels."

The federal government announced Friday that the economy added 151,000 new jobs in October.
