MIDTOWN — Top city planners urged New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Friday not to kill a plan to build a new multi-billion dollar tunnel under the Hudson River.
Christie is expected to wait until after the weekend to announce his decision on the fate of the Access to the Region’s Core (ARC) project, according to several reports.
The multi-billion dollar project, which would create two new commuter tunnels under the Hudson River connected to an expanded Penn Station, was killed by Christie earlier this month, but then given a two-week reprieve the next day.
At a panel discussion at the Municipal Art Society’s Summit for New York City Friday, city planners and architects urged the governor to change his mind.
