New Yorkers Dressed as Brides March for Marriage Equality

MANHATTAN — More than 300 supporters of marriage equality dressed a brides marched across the Brooklyn Bridge and rallied downtown in Foley Square on Sunday.

Protesters demanded that New York State follow California, Massachusetts and Washington D.C. in granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples, the Daily News reported.

"This is a New York state disgrace," Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer told the crowd at the seventh Marriage Equality Wedding March on Sunday, according to the News.

The march saw the biggest crowd ever, waving home-made signs and rainbow flags despite the rain. Reality stars also came out for the march, with "Real Housewives of New York's" Alex McChord and Apollonia from RuPaul's "Drag Race" dressed as blushing brides, according to CNN.

"It's only a matter of time before we get the same rights as everyone else," said Laurie Lynn, 46, a high school administrator from Long Island told the News.

"I know New York will do the right thing," said Lynn, who was marching with her partner of 22 years, Jeneane Claps, 49, the paper reported.
