MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A Hamilton Heights woman accused of killing her husband by repeatedly hitting him with a ceramic elephant will stand trial in state Supreme Court next week.

Donna Cobb, 42, claims she killed her 39-year-old husband, Kevin Cobb, in self defense back in 2006. She said he choked her in their apartment during an argument where he accused her of meeting another man on the roof of their St. Nicholas Avenue building.

"I stabbed him with the elephant because he was choking me," Cobb told police. "Please, I hope he ain't dead."

Donna Cobb told police she was married to an abusive cocaine addict who made paranoid accusations about her fidelity.

Cobb, a nurses aid at Harlem Hospital, faces second-degree murder, manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence charges for the crime, which occurred at 6 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2006.

Diane Cobb called 911 and performed CPR on her husband. Police found Kevin Cobb's lifeless and bloodied body on the floor of their apartment, with his wife sobbing nearby.

"I'm a Christian woman. I should know better," Cobb allegedly said.

The couple had been married 10 years and had six children together, according to court papers.

Cobb had been free on $15,000 bail since 2007. Her lawyer could not be reached for comment on Friday.
