MTA to Hold Public Hearings on Proposed Fare Hikes

MANHATTAN — The MTA plans to hold another round of public hearings on proposed fare hikes, beginning Monday, Sept. 13.

The public is invited to weigh in on the authority’s proposal to increase the price of unlimited MetroCards and cap their “unlimited” use.

The full proposal is listed on the MTA's Web site.

The MTA is looking to fill a gap left by its agreement to increase its revenue by 7.5 percent, according to an agreement with the State Legislature.

The first hearing will be held in Manhattan at the Cooper Union Great Hall at 7 East 7th Street and throughout the month in the outer boroughs, upstate and Long Island.

After the public discussion, the MTA board will vote on the proposals in October.
