MANHATTAN — The New York Jets reached a deal Sunday night to resign holdout star cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Revis, an all-pro defensive player, had been holding out through training camp in a stalemate for a new contract. Various news reports put his new deal at four years and $46 million, with $32 million guaranteed.

"Just landed back in jersey, the flight was a lil rough tho but im just happy to be home," Revis tweeted Monday afternoon.

Revis was expected to fly up to New Jersey to sign the contract on Monday, the Daily News reported.

The star defender held out for 36 days while contract talks languished. He's expected to participate in his first practice on Tuesday.

“I really wasn’t optimistic,” team general manager Mike Tannenbaum told reporters, the New York Post reported. “It was a really hard set of circumstances. This was a lot of heavy lifting, and a lot of work put into it. I’m just happy with the result.”

Jets head coach Rex Ryan flew to Florida to speak with Revis Sunday.

Revis took to Twitter Sunday night to tweet about the deal.

"It not has only been hard on u guys but it has for me too," he tweeted. "I just want to tell yall that I'm sorry for this process."

Tannenbaum said it would be up to Ryan whether Revis would start for the Jets during Monday Night Football next week, when the Jets open the season against the Baltimore Ravens.
