MANHATTAN — Talk about hard knocks.

The New York Jets are out another key component of their defense after outside linebacker Calvin Pace broke his foot during a preseason game against the Washington Redskins Friday, the Daily News reported.

Pace is expected to miss six weeks, the paper said.

The team’s defense is already without Pro Bowl cornerback Darrelle Revis, who has been holding out because of a contract dispute with Jets management.

Veteran Jason Taylor, who was signed by the Jets during the offseason, is expected to fill in for Pace, the News added.

The Jets play their last preseason game on Sept. 2 against Philadelphia before opening the 2010 season against Baltimore on Sept. 13.
