MANHATTAN — Commuters should brace themselves for more delays on the Long Island Rail Road Wednesday, with 33 trains into the city canceled and extra stops added to others according to the MTA.

Most trains out of New York City are running normally, with one line, from Jamaica to Rosedale, replaced with a bus service.

The LIRR expects to run at 75 percent capacity during the morning rush hour, and trains may run slower as the service has added stops in places according to a MTA press release.

This is the third day of travel chaos after a cable fire knocked out a switch east of Jamaica Station on Monday. Officials said the fire was weather related, but they are still investigating.

The MTA said repairs are likely to take days. "Over two-hundred wires need to be checked for possible damage from the fire. Once the repairs are completed, intricate and thorough testing must be performed," the MTA said in a statement.

Many are concerned that the LIRR doesn't actively tell customers what's going on, or about alternative routes according to the Wall Street Journal.

"People are on the train trying to make decisions," Maureen Michaels, the chair of the Long Island Rail Road Commuters Council told the Journal. "You get the personnel out to the locations, and you give [passengers] the info they need to make alternative plans."

Officials told the paper they were looking for ways to answer questions about alternative routes.
