MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A Chinatown bar owner arrested after fire marshals said they saw him set a bar top ablaze defended his fiery performance after his arrest, according to court papers unsealed Tuesday.

The fire department had gone undercover in June at the bar Apotheke, which was recently featured on the "Real Housewives of New York City," responding to tips that the owner Albert Trummer lit the bar on fire as part of a show designed to dazzle customers, according to reports.

"No one got hurt. I didn't use any gasoline. People have been doing this for 200 years," Trummer, 40, allegedly told police while being driven to the precinct on June 13.

Trummer faces two counts of reckless endangerment for allegedly pouring booze on his bar top and setting off a hazardous burning blaze.

He is set to reappear in court in November.
