MANHATTAN — The 2011 firefighters calendar is out, and as expected, it has abs, pecs and biceps in spades.
While the "City of the Brave" is not the official FDNY calendar, which was canceled after its 2008 edition, it does a very good job replacing it, featuring firefighters from across the city in all kinds of steamy poses.
Mr. February, AKA Philip Sylvester, 26, appears to be manhandling a hose, while the intrepid Mr. October, 26-year-old Joseph Aviles, is clearly using his flashlight to search for damsels in distress. Meanwhile Mr. July, Terrence Keeby, looks like he's up to no good with that chainsaw.
The calendar's publisher, Katherine Kostreva, launched the 2011 "City of the Brave" calendar at a party in Manhattan Thursday night.
Kostreva said in a press release that this is the first year the identities of the calendar's participants have been revealed. In previous years, the faces of the FDNY members included in the calendar were shrouded in shadow "for fear of reprisal from the NYC fire department."
The FDNY had canceled their official "Calendar of Heroes" after it emerged that the 2008 coverboy for the calendar had starred in a "Girls Gone Wild" video.
The 2011 calendar is now available on the "City of the Brave" website.
