UPPER MANHATTAN — A transcript of a private City Council ethics committee meeting held on Aug. 4 regarding allegations against Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez will be made available on Aug. 23, according to Council spokesman Jamie McShane.

The news comes as the ethics committee postponed the release of its report to the full City Council on Aug. 13 due to scheduling conflicts. A review of the report by the full council is necessary before it can vote on the Council's Standards and Ethics Committee's proposed sanctions regarding charges against Rodriguez that he inappropriately touched a Council staffer.

Earlier this month, the committee decided the councilman was guilty of "poking" an unidentified female council staffer "between the throat and upper chest" during a heated argument at a budget discussion on June 25.

The group unanimously recommended that Rodriguez be suspended as chair of the Higher Education Committee and recommended that he undergo a 24-hour employee relation course.

During a community meeting held by Rodriguez’s office on Aug. 6, the Rodriguez promised constituents he would attend the mandatory counseling if ordered, on the condition that the course be held in Washington Heights and be open to 100 community members as well.
