MANHATTAN — Lady Gaga certainly caused a "damn raucous" on Tuesday, making MTV history after she was nominated for a record-breaking 13 Video Music Awards, MTV announced.
In addition to nods for Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best Dance Video, the Manhattan native manged to get two nods in the Video of the Year category, one for her collaboration with Beyoncé on "Telephone," and the other for "Bad Romance" — another first in MTV history.
"I'm so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history," Gaga told MTV.
"God put me on Earth for three reasons," Gaga added. "To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous."
In other Gaga news, "The Remix," a new album featuring classic Lady Gaga hits reinterpreted by DJs and artists including Passion Pit, Richard Vision and Frankmuzik, launched on Tuesday.
The 2010 VMAs will be held in Los Angeles on September 12.
