MIDTOWN — Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice is winning the campaign fundraising race in the five-person battle for the Democratic primary for New York state district attorney.

Thursday was the deadline for candidates to announce their latest fundraising tallies. A confident Rice announced a day early that she has amassed a war chest of $4.14 million, a total well-beyond that of her challengers.

Former federal prosecutor Sean Coffey has raised about $2.5 million in independent donations. But his total funds are boosted by an additional $2 million pay out he made to his own campaign.

Without his own dollars, Coffey comes in third behind Manhattan State Senator Eric Schneiderman, who has $2.7 million in the bank.
