MANHATTAN — "Star Wars" came to the Imperial City when irreverent comedy group Improv Everywhere staged a scene from the movie on an uptown 6 train.
The stunt, shown in a video posted Wednesday, started when Princess Leia got on the train and proceeded to read “Galactic Rebellion for Dummies.”
A few stops later three Stormtroopers got on board – discovering the princess and holding her prisoner.
Straphangers pulled out camera phones to record the capture. Others laughed. Still others gawked, as if the scene were some Jedi mind trick.
"The white walls and sliding doors on the train reminded us of the rebel ship from the movie, and we thought it would be fun to see how people would react to a surprise appearance by the iconic characters." Improv Everywhere said on their website.
