MANHATTAN — After some feverish campaigning, Yankees right fielder Nick Swisher was voted into this year's All-Star Game by fans on Thursday.

“THANK YOU!!!!” he typed on Twitter to his more than 1 million followers.

Swisher is the seventh Yankee to make the 2010 team, which will be managed by Yankees skipper Joe Girardi. The 29-year-old slugger received 9.8 million votes to beat out Kevin Youkilis of the Red Sox for the last spot on the American League squad, in what MLB.com said was the closest fan vote battle in the nine-year history of the Final Vote.

Swisher, a fan-favorite in New York, campaigned through his Twitter account, which boasts more than 1.2 million followers, the most of any Major League player, according to MLB.com.

On Thursday morning, after MLB.com reported that he was in a "virtual tie" with Youkilis, Swisher tweeted, "We're in the final stretch. Can't thank yall enough for your support. Let's finish strong!"

The slugger also used the social networking tool to snag endorsements from Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Ivanka Trump, among other heavy hitters.

It’s been a good year for Swish: Through Wednesday night's game, he had a .298 batting average with 14 home runs for the Bronx Bombers, and he recently got engaged to actress Joanne Garcia.

The All-Star game will take place July 13 at Angel Stadium.
