MANHATTAN — Lady Gaga paid tribute to her New York roots as she rocked out at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night.
The pop star, who was raised in Manhattan and attended high school on the Upper East Side, told fans “Without New York, I would not exist,” the Daily News reported.
Lady Gaga is playing three shows at Madison Square Garden this week, as part of the second leg of her worldwide Monster Ball tour. She is also playing Wednesday and Friday night.
The shows are sold out.
Hundreds of fans dressed in crazy costumes to resemble Lady Gaga waited in line for a glimpse at the popular star, who said she once waited in a similar fashion to see her heroes: Madonna, the Rolling Stones and Elton John at the Garden.
“My name is Lady Gaga and I used to sit right over there, way far in the back and way up top,” she reportedly told fans Tuesday night.
