Knicks management had a second, clandestine meeting with LeBron James' representatives in Cleveland on Saturday in a last ditch effort to sign the superstar, the Daily News reported.
Garden President Scott O'Neil and senior VP of Basketball Operations, Glen Grunwald, flew to Ohio to make a second pitch to the player.
It is unknown if James was at the meeting. His business manager, Maverick Carter, and agent, Leon Rose, were, the News reported.
James also met with the Cavaliers and the Chicago Bulls the same day.
Saturday's meeting came as the Knicks got a verbal commitment from the Suns' Amer'e Stoudemire. The Knicks wanted James to know the club was committed to surrounding him with world class players, the News said.
But the News also reported that the Knicks think it likely James will stay in Cleveland. A source told the newspaper it was "very doubtful" that he would sign with New York.
