MANHATTAN — Many commuters around Manhattan will have to find a new to get to work on Monday after the MTA's so-called Doomsday cuts go into effect this weekend.
The cuts, which are projected to save the MTA $93 million of its $800 million budget gap, eliminate the V and W subway lines as well as the M27, M30, B23, B39, Q74 and Bx14 bus lines.
The MTA backed off one of its most controversial cuts earlier this month. A proposal to eliminate discounted and free MetroCards for students was shelved after widespread outcry and protests.
A full list of the MTA changes can be found on the MTA’s website.
