MANHATTAN — Lady Gaga, Manhattan's own avant-garde pop star, confirmed in a recent interview that she has "tested borderline positive" for lupus, an often devastating autoimmune disease.

However, the signer, who attended Sacred Heart girl's school on the Upper East Side, assured fans that she did not yet have any symptoms of the illness.

"The truth is I don't show any signs, any symptoms of lupus, but I have tested borderline positive for the disease," Gaga told CNN's Larry King in an interview that will air in full Tuesday night. "So as of right now I do not have it, but I have to take good care of myself."

Gaga also opened up about the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, with whom she was set to tour before his death.

"I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour…and we were working on making it happen," Gaga revealed. "I believe there was some talk about us…doing some duets on stage."

The 24-year-old performer said that Jackson's death had been personally "devastating," calling him a "remarkable human being."

Additionally, Gaga noted her support for several gay rights issues, including the elimination of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law which currently prevents openly gay individuals from serving in the military.

"There's so many archaic things floating around in the government right now that are so misinformed and so wrong," Gaga told King. "it's very confusing for young people."

The singer, known for her flamboyant attire, also spoke out about "14-year-olds in high school who are getting sent home because they have t-shirts that say 'gay' on it, as if 'gay' is a curse word or somehow inappropriate."

"No person is worth less than another human being based on their sexual orientation," Gaga told the talk show host.

King and Gaga both tweeted that the pop star's newest video, for the song "Alejandro" would premiere during the broadcast.
