MUNICIPAL DISTRICT — Getting to the Foley Square courthouse just got easier.

The misleading address of the 10-year-old U.S. District Court at 500 Pearl Street has always been a source of confusion for cabbies, limo drivers, jurors and general visitors because the main doors are actually located on Worth Street, administrators said.

Last week, the city assigned the courthouse a second address — 200 Worth Street — primarily for those arriving by car, said Clifford Kirsch, district executive of the U.S. government-run building.

"It's mainly for those who are traveling by vehicle to the area so they know where to go," Kirsch said.

Drivers looking for the courthouse entrance can't even turn onto Pearl Street, a small one-lane road that cuts through a cluster of government buildings and ends near the Brooklyn Bridge.

The intersection of Centre and Pearl Streets is completely blocked off to general traffic by US Marshal security guards.

Both addresses are now displayed at the front of the 27-story building, and the Worth Street address is recognized on Google Maps and GPS systems.

"This makes it one heck of a lot easier to identify the building from that side of the block," Kirsch said.

Mail and packages must still be sent to the original address, the official mailing address of the building.
