MANHATTAN — Lynn Redgrave, a renowned British star of stage and screen, died on Sunday of breast cancer. She was 67 years old.
Her publicist, Rick Miramontez, confirmed Redgrave's death on Monday, the Associated Press reported.
Redgrave came from a celebrated British family of actors. Born in London to the actors Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kemspon, she is also the younger sister of famed actress Vanessa Redgrave.
Lynn made her screen debut in 1963 in the film "Tom Jones," and first drew international attention as the awkward, socially challenged lead character in the 1966 film "Georgy Girl."
She was a Tony award winner and an Oscar nominee.
Lynn Redgrave’s niece, film star Natasha Richardson, died last year from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident, and only a year ago, her brother, Corin Regrave died.
She is survived by her children, Ben, Pema, and Annabel.
“Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven-year journey with breast cancer," her family said Monday in a statement. "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time."
