MIDTOWN EAST — A fire broke out in the third floor apartment of a Murray Hill residential building late Thursday morning, forcing an evacuation of the building and injuring two firefighters, FDNY said.

The fire ignited in the wall of a five-story building at 243 East 38 St., right off of Second Avenue, about 11:13 a.m, fire officials said. A firefighter on the scene said it appeared to be an electrical fire caused by duct work being done in the wall of an apartment on the third floor.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries, but did not need to be brought to the hospital, officials on the scene said.

About 10 fire vehicles were on the scene and a couple of dozen residents waited outside while the FDNY extinguished the fire.
