CHELSEA — It's getting a little wilder in Hudson River Park, with a new merry-go-round featuring statues of animals and magical creatures being installed at Pier 62.

Kids will be able ride a harbor seal, a green turtle, a coyote and a unicorn covered in butterflies starting the third week of May.

Along with the unicorn, designs for the carousel included dozens of animals native to the area, according to renderings by Carousel Works, which is designing the merry-go-round.

At the same time, other new features are also expected to open in the Chelsea Cove section of the park, which includes Pier 62, said David Katz, a marketing exec for the park.

The Hudson River Park Trust's website said that portion of the park will also house a new skate park.

A full schedule will be available on the Hudson River Park Trust’s website.
