President Barack Obama Will Deliver Speech on Wall Street in New York Thursday

MANHATTAN — The buck stops in the East Village this week, if President Barack Obama has anything to say about it.

Obama will speak about Wall Street reform at Cooper Union on Thursday, reminding “Americans what is at stake if we do not move forward with changing the rules of the road,” during what’s shaping up to be a tumultuous week on The Street.

After Goldman Sachs was hit with an SEC fraud suit on Friday, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Germany’s government said they were considering taking legal action against the bank.

The SEC’s suit claims Goldman made misleading statements to investors about a financial product related to subprime mortgages, enabling the bank to to profit from the product when these mortgages failed, and fueling the financial crisis.
