MANHATTAN — It's official — this has been the wettest March on record.

As of Tuesday at midnight, Central Park recorded a record-setting 10.68 inches of rain during the month, beating the old record of 10.54 inches set in March of 1983, according to National Weather Service data.

Nearly two and a half inches of rain fell on Tuesday alone to push the total over the top.

With rain showers in the forecast for Wednesday, the total could inch slightly higher before the month is out, meteorologists said.

The storm, which caused flooding and general misery around the city, dumped nearly four and a half inches of rain during its three-day life span.

Despite a mostly damp March, April is expected to jump off to a nice start, according to forecasters.

Thursday through the weekend should be warmer and sunny with highs in the upper 60s and low 70s, meteorologists said.

This season has been one for the books; February set a record for the all-time snowiest month after several storms dumped 36.9 inches on the city.
