MANHATTAN — Morning commuters can expect to see a strong police presence at Manhattan transit hubs Wednesday morning as local law enforcement agencies participate in a security drill.

Approximately 100 NYPD officers along with members of Amtrak, MTA Police, Army National Guard, NJ Transit, Port Authority and TSA personnel, will flood Penn Station, Herald Square station and Grand Central Terminal as part of the Multi-Agency Super Surge exercise that's scheduled to last between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m., police said.

The exercise comes on the heels of suicide bombings in Moscow's subway system on Monday that killed at least 39 people this week.

Hundreds of police and other servicemen will gather at three of the city's major subway stations Wednesday morning for a Multi-Agency Super Surge exercise.

The NYPD said the drill, the 42nd time the agencies will have participated in the MASS exercise, was scheduled in advance of the attacks. It's scheduled to occur twice a month, police said.

But a source told the New York Post that Mayor Michael Bloomberg ordered the drill in response to the Moscow attack.
