MANHATTAN—American Airlines and American Eagle are adding 31 new flights and 13 new routes to JFK and LaGuardia airports by the end of the year as part of a multimillion-dollar deal with the city to serve as its official carrier.

The deal includes $4.5 million in advertising and promotional support for the city and more than $30 million in terminal investments at JFK and La Guardia.

“New York City continues to be a place where companies want to do business,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

“By creating the environment that attracts strong businesses to the City, we’re expanding the economy and improving the quality of life across the five boroughs.

With commitments like the one American is making today, we are confident we can achieve our goal of drawing 50 million visitors to New York City annually by 2012.”

American Airline and American Eagle will also add 31 new flights and 13 new routes to both airports by the end of the year.
