MANHATTAN — The city is in for yet another deluge as a slow moving storm is expected to bring three to six inches of rain to the tri-state area on Monday and Tuesday, meteorologists said.
The rain, already making for a messy morning commute on Monday, is expected to be heavy at times and will continue through Tuesday afternoon, according to forecasters.
The city could see one to two inches of rain on Monday, two to three Monday night and another half to three-quarters of an inch on Tuesday, meteorologists said. March has been a rainy month with more than six and a half inches falling in Central Park as of Sunday.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for much of the area – in effect through Tuesday afternoon. Area rivers, streams and basements could flood as the rains fall on ground already saturated from recent storms.
A coastal flood advisory is also in effect through Monday afternoon, the NWS said.
Chilly winds will accompany the storm with daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 50s, falling into the low to mid 40s overnight, according to forecasters.
The rain clouds do have a silver lining — the end of the week should be beautiful with sunny weather and highs in the 70s, meteorologists said.
Alternate side parking remained in effect Monday.
