MANHATTAN — Whether they're celebrating Passover, Easter or nothing at all, Manhattanites will get a holiday free from alternate side parking rules beginning Tuesday.
The department of transportation has suspended alternate side parking for Passover on March 30 and 31, along with April 5 and 6. The rules are also suspended for Holy Thursday on April 1 and Good Friday, April 2.
While some streets in Manhattan do have alternate side parking on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the holidays mean most drivers in the borough won't have to shuffle to move their cars for more than a week.
"That's why I love every religion in the world because parking is suspended and we're allowed to leave our car without moving it," said Upper East Side resident Gerald Iannaccone as he waited to move his car last week.

After Wednesday, April 3 is the next time alternate side parking rules are in effect, and then again on April 7. Most Manhattan drivers will not move their cars again next Thursday, April 8.
In the meantime, drivers will still have to pay parking meters.
