MANHATTAN — Vogue Editor and Manhattan fashionista supreme Anna Wintour attended the premiere of "Bill Cunningham New York" Wednesday night at the Museum of Modern Art.
The film is in the lineup for the museum's 39th annual "New Directors/New Films" festival, in partnership with the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
"Bill Cunningham New York," directed by Richard Press, tells the story of a New York Times photographer, nearly 90, who rides a bicycle around Manhattan to capture the essence of the city.
The full schedule of the film festival, taking place both at MoMA and at Lincoln Center, can be found at the festival's Web site.
Meanwhile, Ben Stiller, Steve Martin and Kevin Smith were among the comedic stars who turned out for a tribute to George Carlin at the New York Public Library.
The public event, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, honored the late legendary comedian and the publication of his posthumous so-called "sortabiography," Last Words.
It was held in the library's Celeste Bartos Forum.
And lastly, at the Cedar Lake Studios in Chelsea, a premiere party was held for "Dancing Across Borders," a film by Anne Bass.
In the film, Bass discovers a teenage boy in Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia, with unique grace as a dancer. She then follows his career through New York’s School of American Ballet and then on stage in Seattle.
Cedar Lake is a contemporary ballet company that has a performance space on W. 26th Street.
